What we can learn from the 2020 election

Now, I know its been a while guys, so welcome back into the world of Jas. As many of you know, Joe Biden has won the election. I personally am happy with these results, and I'll go into detail in a bit why.

There were many things that happened during this election, and there's a lot that needs to be digested. Firstly, how CLOSE this election really was. Many polls and statistics named Biden as a sure win. Yes, he did win in the end. That is not the issue however, it is the fact of just how close of a call it was. We tend to rely on analytics and polling to speculate who may win what. But did we not learn from Hillary Clinton in 2016? She was a sure win, but to EVERYONE's surprise, Trump won in the end.

To give a bit of a recap of what ended up happening. There were a few key states that Joe Biden needed to win this race. Namely, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada to name a few. A few hours after election night Biden pulled ahead of Trump in Wisconsin and Michigan. Luckily he ended up winning those states. Then it was the battle of who would win Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, North Carolina, and Nevada. There was uproar all over the United States by Trump supporters to count the votes, but also to stop counting. Which is a bit of a conundrum don't you think? In any case, after a grueling 4 days, actually this morning, Biden won Pennsylvania making him the winner of this election.

The second thing that we can learn from this election is what people cared about in this election. For the past four years, we had an administration who did not care about the American people, to put it mildly. What people cared about were health care and stability. Remember we're in a pandemic and have such a high unemployment rate, and Trump did not deliver. People are tired and want something to look forward to. That is what Biden represents. People are looking forward a new future. Hopefully, things get better, and that's honestly what anyone can do. We have an uphill battle with the economy and pandemic to deal with, but I feel that President Biden is up for the task. :)
